Getting started with Double-Take Cloud

These instructions will guide you through the basic steps to set up your Double-Take Cloud solution.

If this is your first time to set up a cloud solution, you may want to take a few minutes to learn about the Double-Take Cloud solution or explore an example cloud use scenario.

You will perform each of the following tasks to set up protection for your server.

  1. Verify that source server is pre-configured appropriately
  2. Set up Double-Take Cloud subscription
  3. Configure AWS security groups and corresponding corporate firewall settings
  4. Launch an instance of the Double-Take Cloud repository
  5. Create an AWS elastic block store (EBS) volume
  6. Associate an AWS elastic IP address with the instance
  7. Get the default administrator password
  8. Configure a remote desktop connection to the Double-Take Cloud repository
  9. Activate the Double-Take Cloud repository
  10. Configure the VPN
  11. Verify the VPN connection
  12. Install Double-Take Backup on the source server
  13. Configure Double-Take Backup full-server protection

Or, you can recover a protected server.

  • Double-Take Software recommends that you use the Mozilla Firefox web browser when working in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) console. See the troubleshooting section if Internet Explorer generates script warnings.
  • This Getting Started guide doesn't provide details about how to do common Amazon Web Services tasks. The AWS Management Console has a pretty useful help system that you can view by clicking the Help button, located in the top-right corner of the AWS Console.
