Configure the security group and the corporate firewall

Want some background information on security groups?
  1. Click here to sign in to the AWS Management Console.
  2. In AWS, add the following rules to the "default" security group.
Connection Method Protocol From Port To Port Source (IP or group)
Custom icmp -1 -1 0.0.0.0/0
RDP tcp 3389 3389 0.0.0.0/0
Custom udp 1194 1194 0.0.0.0/0

Note:

  • Do not change or remove the existing "default" security group rules.
  • Specifying 0.0.0.0/0 for the source IP address will allow any IP address to connect to the instance. If you need to restrict access, you can enter a specific IP address or an address range.
  • Port 1194 is used by OpenVPN to establish a secure, encrypted communication channel.
  1. On your corporate firewall, enable the same rules that you applied to the "default" security group.
  2. If you have Windows firewall configured on your source, enable the same rules that you applied to the "default" security group.

Next step: After you have configured the security group and applied the rules to your corporate firewall, launch a Double-Take Cloud repository instance.
