Create an elastic block store (EBS) volume

Create an elastic block store (EBS) volume using the AWS Management Console.

Note:

The EBS volume must be in the same availability zone as the newly-launched instance.
Do not attach the volume at this time, as it may take several minutes to be created. You will attach the volume when you configure Double-Take protection .

Next step: After the EBS volume has been created, associate an elastic IP address with the instance.
