Copying the Flex Client boot image to SAN

Copying the Flex Client system (the entire physical system) to the iSCSI SAN target LUN is the most common way to establish the boot image for a Flex Client when setting up iSCSI boot from SAN. The alternative is to install the OS direct to iSCSI (see Installing the OS direct to SAN) or to use the New Client Wizard (see Using the New Client Wizard).

There are two methods to manually copy the Flex Client image:

Use the System Copy utility available with the Client Deployment Tool (available as a PXE-bootable image or a bootable DVD). This utility offers complete offline access to all files. Use the System Copy utility to copy an entire disk or to copy a volume (partition).
Use the System Copy command line tool installed on the Flex Client system.

Using the command line tool provides optional command line parameters that provide additional functionality.

Before using either System Copy tool, the Flex Windows Client must be installed. For more information, see Installing the Flex Windows Client.
