Specifying target properties—Flex Storage server disabled

To specify target properties when the Double-Take Flex Storage Server is not enabled, perform the following steps:

  1. In the left pane of the Double-Take Flex Management Console, right-click the target configuration that you want to configure and select Properties.

  1. On the General tab, specify values for the following properties:

Property

Description

Target name

Browse for the IQN name of the target previously created or to be assigned. You can browse for available targets using the configured portal if you have the Microsoft iSCSI initiator installed.

Initiator name

Specify the iSCSI initiator node name that will be passed to the Double-Take Flex Client. The initiator name is used in the following order.

  1. If the initiator name is specified for an iSCSI target, that initiator name will be used by the Double-Take Flex Client.
  2. If the initiator name is not specified for an iSCSI target, and is specified for the client, that initiator name will be used by the Double-Take Flex Client.
  3. If the initiator name is not specified for an iSCSI target or the client, the Double-Take Flex bootstrap will create an initiator node name for the Double-Take Flex Client based on the client's MAC address.

Description

(optional) Specify a description for the target configuration.

Enable CHAP authentication

If required, select this checkbox and specify the CHAP credentials to match those of the intended iSCSI target.

Leave the User Name and Password fields blank to prompt for a user name and password during boot. To enable these prompts for a target that belongs to a portal enabled for Double-Take Flex Storage Server iSCSI target management, you must perform the following steps:

  1. Disable Flex Storage Server iSCSI target management on the portal containing this target.
  2. Enable CHAP on the target, but do not specify a user name or password.
  3. Re-enable Flex Storage Server iSCSI target management on the portal containing this target.
  1. On the Access Mode tab, specify an access mode for the target.

For an explanation of the access mode options, refer to the following sections:

  1. Click Apply
  2. Click OK.
