Setting the Flex Client to boot from network or local boot agent

Setting the Flex Client to boot from the network is a one-time requirement for every client in the Double-Take Flex system.

To set the boot order, perform the following steps:

  1. Start the Flex Client and access the BIOS setup.
  2. Modify the boot order to set the appropriate boot device depending on if you are using PXE boot or a local boot agent. If you are using a local boot agent, the boot device in BIOS must match the media the local boot agent was created on.
  3. The network boot devices may be shown under different names, for example:

  1. Save the BIOS settings and exit.

Do not boot the Flex Client until the client configuration has been defined in the Double-Take Flex Management Console. If automatic client discovery is enabled within the Double-Take Flex Management Console, then the settings there will determine how auto-discovered clients will be treated, such as being assigned to a default boot image.

Note:

In some cases, you may need to enable the PXE functionality of the network adapter if it is integrated on the system's motherboard. Check your system vendor's documentation for details.
