Installing the Windows iSCSI Initiator

To support the full server to ESX appliance job type, the Windows iSCSI Initiator is placed into a folder on Windows 2003 servers during Double-Take Windows installations. You will have to install it manually before creating a full server to ESX appliance job. If you are using Windows 2008, the iSCSI Initiator is already installed, but you will have to enable it through Administrative Tools, if it is not already enabled. (By default, it is not enabled.)

  1. Locate the iSCSI Initiator directory in your Double-Take installation location. By default, this is C:\Program Files\Vision Solutions\Double-Take\.
  2. Select either the x64 or x86 sub-directory depending on your server architecture.
  3. Launch the executable in your selected sub-directory.
  4. When the Microsoft iSCSI Initiator installation begins, click Next.
  5. Keep the default installation options for Initiator Service and Software Initiator, and click Next to continue.
  6. Accept the license agreement by clicking I Agree, and click Next to continue.
  7. When the installation is complete, click Finish.
