Licensing and activation

If you choose not to license and activate your servers during the installation, you will have to license and activate them using the Double-Take Console(Appliances are not licensed during appliance deployment.) There are several licensing and activation methods that depend on the Double-Take product you are using, the type of license you have purchased, and your Internet connection (or lack thereof).

If you are participating in the Double-Take Software Metered Usage program, your licensing and activation is different. For basic information, see Preparing a target server for Metered Usage. For complete details, see the help link in the Metered Usage Web Portal.

If you are using version 6.0 or earlier, you must upgrade any existing Double-Take activation codes (now called license keys) using the following process.

  1. Log in to the support site at http://www.VisionSolutions.com/SupportCentral.
  2. Select Agreements.
  3. Select Request License Keys (7.1).
  4. Select the licenses you would like to upgrade and use for this release and click Submit.
  5. You will receive an email from CSRGroup@visionsolutions.com with the subject Upgraded Double-Take License Keys. This email includes your upgraded keys in an XML file along with instructions for how to import the keys. For complete details on importing a license file, see the User's Guide or online help.
