The following workflow shows the steps for installing and setting up the Double-Take Flex servers.
For ease of use, Double-Take Software recommends that the Microsoft DHCP Server be installed and authorized. If the DHCP Server is installed on a separate system, you must select the Proxy DHCP checkbox in the PXE Service Properties dialog box after installing the Double-Take Flex Management Server.
If you take advantage of the feature in Double-Take Flex that lets you create iSCSI targets on a Windows system, you must install the Double-Take Flex Storage Server. After installation, you can use the Double-Take Flex Storage Console to create and configure Flex Targets.
If you define targets on a third-party iSCSI SAN, you do not need to install the Double-Take Flex Storage Server. After creating the targets that you intend to associate with the Flex Clients, you can skip straight to installing the Double-Take Flex Management Server.
Note: |
For instructions about defining iSCSI targets on the SAN, refer to the iSCSI vendor instructions. Make sure that when you define a target that it is at least the size of the intended Flex Client. |
